Dateline: Crabtree Field Green

It was a pleasant evening as the Phillies came up to bat. Michael drilled a long double to left, Kyle lined out to short.  Michael moved to third on a wild pitch.  Reece grounded out to the mound but Michael got a great jump and scored.  The Red Sox did well against Michael on the mound with two hard singles and a double.  Michael settled down and got the next three batters as Reece made a great play at short, William had a good catch at second and the last batter struck out.  After one it was 3-1 Sox.

Top of the second and Sam drilled a tripled to right.  Krish came up with an RBI groundout to score the run.  Michael struck out two in the bottom of the second and after two it was 3-2 Sox.

Top of the third and the Phillies went down in order after Isaac grounded out to the mound and Joseph grounded out to second.  Bottom  of the third and Aidan came on for his inaugural appearance of the year. He got the last batter to ground out to short where Michael made a great play moving to his right.  Aidan then struck out the leadoff man. After that a single to left brought up JP the Home Run Derby second place winner from the Spring.  Aidan missed low on a pitch, but JP didn’t mind and smashed a towering shot over the left field wall.  A double and a couple of wild pitches scored another run but Aidan settled down and struck out the next batter.  After three it was 6-2 Sox.

Top of the fourth and the Phillies top of theorder came to life.  Michael singled, Kyle doubled to score Michael.  Krishnan was hit by a pitch.  William walked.  Sam grounded out to second to score Kyle and a wild pitch scored Krishnan.  William was just out at the plate as he attempted to score on a wild pitch.  Bottom of the fourth and at this point, this reporters notes aren’t so clear.  Bottom line is Krishnan came on in the fourth, Reese relieved in with the bases loaded and did a fine job but some runs scored.  Sam came on in the fifth and looked good, but another run scored.  The Red Sox ended with 11 on the board.  The Phillied picked up two more runs in the fifth and set the stage for a great comeback.  They got the tying run to the plate but alas the game ended with the final score being Red Sox 11 Phillies 8.

Coach Grossman said, “We walked too many batters and made too many errors in today’s game.  Our fielding is better than this and our pitching is better than this.   I clearly didn’t get our team ready to play, but we’ll be ready on Saturday and for our games next week.”
