Dateline:  FC Blue

It was a very warm day at the park as the O’s got there early for team pictures.  The O’s took the field hoping for their first win on the year and were swinging the bats early.  In the top of the first, there were two swinging strikeouts and Krish  made some good contact, but the third baseman made a nice catch on a popup.   Bottom of the first and Michael go the start.  He blasted three quick strikeouts by the top of the order.  After one it was a scoreless tie.

Top of the second and with two outs Adam smashed a double to right. Michael singled to score Adam.  Trip singled to put runners on at first and second.   Joseph singled to right to score Michael.   Bottom of the second and the Tigers came right back with two runs off of a single and two walks and some wild pitches, but Michael settled down and struck out three more batter.  After two it was a 2-2 tie.

Krish led off the third with a single to center.  Frankie flew out to right.  Colin singled.  Sol doubled to score Krish.  Adam singled to score Colin and Sol.  Adam then scored when a ball was thrown past the pitcher.    Bottom of the third and Krish came on and threw heat.  He quickly struck out the side.

Top of the fourth and the O’s picked up another run as Michael and Tripp led off with singles.  Joseph popped out into a double play but Michael got back to second in time to avoid a triple play (This reporter was worried about that for a minute).   Michael scored on a ground out.  Bottom of the fourth and Frankie went to the mound.  He walked the lead off man who then stole second and scored on an overthrow.  The next batter struck out.  With one out the next batter singled to right.  The next batter struck out. With two outs the next batter hit a popup about 10 feet behind 3B in foul territory.  Sol, playing a shallow left, got a great jump on the ball and made the catch to end the inning.  After four it was O’s 7 Tigers 3.

Top of the fifth and the Tigers closer Keegan took the mound.  He walked Scott, Krish and Frankie.   Colin then drilled a long double to center field to score Scott and Krish.  Sol singled to score Frankie.  Adam walked and Michael then walked to score Colin.   Bottom of the fifth and Sol went to the mound.   He gave up a couple of walks.  Colin then made a nice play on a grounder to short as he fired to Krish at first to get the out.   A couple more walks scored two runs but Sol settled down to strike out the last batter to end the inning.  The game ended due to time constraints.  Final Score: O’s 11 Tigers 5.

Coach Grossman was available for a short interview.  He said, “I really liked how our team is coming together.  We put a lot more balls into play today and we played some good team defense.  Sol’s catch today was huge.   I thought Michael had a big day at the plate and on the mound and Colin certainly had a big hit.  If we keep hitting and fielding like that and throwing strikes, we are going to have a good season.”
