Dateline: FC Blue
The Orioles took the field against the Yankees on a pleasant fall evening. Michael and Colin got hard singles, but Sol hit a sharp line drive to the short stop that was just caught for out three. Krish got the start and gave up a couple of walks but settled down to get a groundout to Scott at second for out three. After one it was 2-0 Yankees.
In the second, Adam led off with a walk, Isaac walked and Joseph walked to load the bases. Cid walked to score Adam. Scott walked to score Isaac and Krish singled to score Joseph and Cid. Four runs scored with only one out. Frankie came on in the second and shut down the Yankees. He got a quick strike out. The next batter bunted and Sid came out from behind the plate and fired down to Isaac who made a nice catch at first for out two. The last batter grounded out to Isaac at first for out three. After two it was O’s 4 Yankees 2.
With one out in the third, Colin singled to center. Sol singled, Adam singled to score Colin and Sol, Isaac hit a shot to center that fell in for a single to score Adam and Frankie singled to score Isaac. Frankie stayed on the mound and after a leadoff walk and a stolen base, the runner on second tried to steal third. Sol threw the ball perfectly to Adam at third who applied the tag for out two. The O’s scored a run on a couple of walks and stolen bases, but Frankie settled down and struck out the last batter. After three it was O’s 8 Yankees 3.
The O’s quickly put up some more runs as Scott led off with a walk. Krish singled, Michael singled and Colin singled to score Scott. Sol drilled a double to left to score Krish, Michael and Colin. Four runs in, no outs on the scoreboard. Michael came on in the fourth and the next batter bunted. Colin came out from behind the plate and fired down to Isaac to get the runner for out one. Michael struck out the next two batters. After four it was 12-3.
Top of the fifth and the O’s picked up one more run as Adam doubled and scored on two wild pitches. Michael stayed on the mound and picked up three quick strikeouts. In the sixth, the O’s went down quietly and Colin came on and after one walk and a stolen base and two wild pitches scored one run scored for the Yankees. Colin then struck out the next three batters very quickly. Final Score O’s 13 Yankees 4.
Coach Grossman was available briefly and said, “I really like how we are hitting the ball and the two plays from catcher to first were huge. Also I’m thrilled to see us throw two runners out stealing third.”
