made it to first. Nicole drilled a shot to third, Scott singled to right and Alec singled to center. Matthew hit a long drive to the outfield grass in left to end the inning.

As the game progressed, the Ironbirds made one great play at first. The batter hit a drive to first where Nicole alertly stopped the ball. It dribbled toward the foul line. Alec flew over from second to pick up the ball and raced to first to get the batter by three steps. Ironbird fans rejoiced at a clean out at first. Another out occurred when Isaac grabbed a ball on the mound and threw to Matthew who alertly touched first for a second out. [Editors Note: Our staff reporter has confessed that he doesn’t really remember who made this play but interviews with Isaac were emphatic that he made the play and our meager publication lacks resources to more carefully review the credibility of all sources.]

Coach Grossman was available for a brief interview, “I am extremely pleased with the progress of our young team. Making two outs in the field this early in the season is a credit to our players tenacity and eagerness to learn how to play real defense. These Storm have very cool uniforms and playing them this well is certainly not an easy task.” Coach Goldstein said, “I liked how we put four balls on the outfield grass, our hitters are looking great.”
