Dateline: Field of Dreams (Field #11)
The schedule was not kind to the Warriors after two one run losses. It was on to face the Hard 90 Phenom Premier. This reporter noted that during warmups it appeared that Hard 90 had about 15 players taller than this reporter. Nevertheless, the Warriors gave them something to be worried about. Conor led off with his third lead off home run with a long blast to dead center. It was his fifth home run of the tournament. Marty singled, Justin was safe at first on an infield errr at second. Marty moved to third on a wild pitch. Justin moved to second went the catcher elected not to throw. Sam singled to score Marty. With runners on at first and third, Sam was thrown out trying to steal second but Justin scored on the play. The Hard 90 pitcher settled down to get out three.
In the bottom of the first, Justin took the mound for his first appearance. He threw heat and the leadoff hitter hit one out of the park. He settled down to get the next two batters on ground outs to Conor at short and Marty at second. The cleanup hitter blasted a shot to left center that went way over the fence. The last batter flew out to right where Matt made a great catch for out three.
Suffice it to say the wheels came off in the bottom of the second as Hard 90 scored 7 in the second and 9 more in the third. Jake came on and did a great job to get three outs in a row in the bottom of the third. Warriors bats were silent in the top of the fourth and the game ended with Hard 90 ahead.
Coach Grossman said, “Well, Hard 90 is a great team and I would not be the least bit surprised if they win this tournament. Our guys played well and it was fun to have the lead for a while. We’ll be fine tomorrow.”
