Dateline: Fox Mill District Park

It was surprisingly warm as the Cubs took infield with hopes of snapping their recent losing streak. Infield practice was quite crisp and balls were flying around the batting cage as the Cubs seemed determined to give the Twins a run for their money.

Conor led off with his first of three extra base hits for the day with a long double to left. Unfortunately, the Twins starter was blasting heat and he retired the side. Justin got the start and despite throwing blistering heat, had some control problems. He walked six in a row and a weak infield single caused the fourth run to score. After one it was Twins 4 Cubs 0. Cubs bats were very quiet off the Twins starter in the second. Kaz came on and looked sharp and he shut down the Twins. After two it was still Twins 4 Cubs 0.

Christian led off the third with a walk he moved to second and third on wild pitches. Jordyn hit a huge line shot to left for a big RBI to score Christian. John walked. A wild pitch moved both runners to second and third with one out. Conor hit a sharp smash to the shortstop, Jordyn scored, but the shortstop ran down John and tagged him as he tried to advance to third for out two. Coach Grossman sent Conor on a steal to second, but the catcher made a great throw and got Conor by a step. Dylan came on in the third and had some control problems as he started with three walks. He settled down to strike out a batter. A blooper just past Dylan on the mound scored a run for the Twins. The errant throw home resulted in another run. Coach Grossman went to the mound and encouraged everyone to get over it. Everyone seemed to get over it as Dylan got the next batter to ground out to Greg at first, but a run did score. Dylan induced another weak groundout to end the inning. When the dust had cleared, it looked like the Cubs faced an insurmountable lead of 7-2.
