So happy to get on a baseball field today after the long layoff from the end of the season in the Spring. I’m an assistant in our “Majors” and I think on a team of 11 I know a bunch — some of them I had years ago and now here they are all grown up.
So I invented a game while back called ONE PITCH. Here’s how it works, parents in the field. Each batter comes up and gets ONE PITCH if it’s a strike, they are out. If it’s a foul ball they ware OUT. If it’s a hit, everyone just plays it and all baseball rules are the same. FOUL BALL, you got it, the batter is OUT.
It’s designed to teach batters to be ready for the first pitch.
We did it today and it was OK but I shall report back on it as the season progresses .. I also like it as it reminds parent that baseball isn’t as easy as it looks.
Not sure I have ever documented ONE PITCH on this web site, so figured this blog entry would be a good enough place.
